Which cloud service provider is used to host Kalido and which region is it hosted in?
Kalido is hosted by AWS, in Ireland.
Can Kalido support deploying mobile apps through our Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution?
Yes. Kalido for mobile is available on iOS and Android via Google Play Store and the App Store. We can also provide you with a .apk for Android if you prefer to deploy that way (but we will need to discuss version management).
What scalability configuration options are available?
Kalido can support from 1 user to >200,000 users out of the box.
If the architecture is multitenant, how do you ensure data isolation between tenants?
Kalido’s architecture is not multitenant. The nature of Kalido is a Network of Networks, which means that data is ringfenced by virtue of privacy controls and permissions, not separate storage spaces.
Is it possible to customise the database at the tenant level?
There are options to customise data stored per Network for members and Projects. But this is an enterprise feature of Kalido, not database customisation as such.
How does Kalido handle data integration, such as user data loading and synchronisation?
Kalido runs on event models, including data ingested from APIs, so everything hits our load balancer, which then drives auto-scaling and throttling where needed. We use papertrail, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Cloudwatch for logging.
What mechanisms are in place for alerting and monitoring within Kalido?
Alerts come to us via mail, and are also pushed via webhooks into our own Kalido Channel.
Does Kalido have integration available for PowerBI solution for data analysis and visualisation?
Not yet, but we would be excited to discuss this with you. We can provide custom reports as needed, including raw data if you want to do direct visualisation on your own.
How does Kalido handle updates and new feature releases? Is there any downtime involved?
We release multiple times a week in a way that is transparent to our users. In our history, we have only ever once needed to run a few hours of weekend downtime to do a massive migration, but that was an exception.
Can you provide information on the average uptime and availability of Kalido?
Historically, we operate with >99.9% uptime.
Are there any limitations or restrictions on the number of users, storage capacity, or data transfer?
There are no restrictions on the number of users. We have yet to experience a client use case that drives the need for storage constraints, but we already serve a client with >80k users, so do not foresee an issue for Mphasis. No limits are currently imposed on data transfer.
What level of customer support and technical assistance is provided?
We provide live chat support during specific hours, and email support outside this. We reply to >60% of requests within 1 hour. If you need additional support, we can discuss requirements and commercial implications.
Does Kalido adhere to any compliance certifications or standards, such as GDPR?
Kalido holds GDPR, SOC 2 Type 2, and ISO 27001 certifications.
How are Skills identified from a job description?
The entire text of the job description is parsed using a natural language parsing model that is trained to identify Skills and other elements such as Certifications and Industries.
How does Kalido create skill maps or grids for tech skill cloud vs other skills?
Kalido uses true machine-learning, which involves thousands of dimensions of relationship depth, rather than a more basic skills map/grid approach that only uses two dimensions of relationship depth.
When people don’t declare Skills, how does the system match and make assumptions?
The machine-learning model will match adjacent Skills if they are present. If not, users can get ML-powered Skill suggestions when they update their Profiles, or they can use the Enhance My Visibility feature to help populate their Profiles.
How many attributes are considered for matching? Only Skills? Or are education, Certifications, language etc considered?
Role, Band, Skill, Skill Competency, Location, Industry, Certifications, Availability and Capacity are considered for matching. We regard Language as a Skill, and we consider Certifications to be the output of Education, so both of these should be covered. If you can provide a clear example case, we can help you to understand how Kalido will approach it.
How do you track Availability and deployment of people for partial allocations?
Availability and Capacity are a combined concept on Kalido. We use Project History (which includes start dates, end dates, and Capacity per assigned Project Role) to determine whether a Job Seeker is available or partially available for a Project.
How does Kalido include performance ratings and subjective feedback, and the subjective preferences of employees?
Managers can rate the Skills of their Direct Reports. Anyone in the Network can write a per-Skill Recommendation for an Employee. Both of these data points affect Skill Competency. Recommendations can be read by anyone in the Network to help with qualitative decision-making. Employees can show their preferences by making matching active or inactive on a per-Skill basis, adding Preferred Locations, and signalling their interest in specific Opportunities.
For the same job, is it possible to see whether an internal or an external applicant is a better Match?
Yes. Quests will return stack-ranked lists of results that can include your employees (your Internal Network), and Job Seeker CVs (your Recruitment Network).
How does the algorithm work? Is it rule or learned? And how does Kalido avoid bias?
Kalido uses true machine learning, so the model learns as we train it. We avoid bias by:
- ensuring all employees can see all Opportunities if they wish, and enabling them to indicate interest.
- making it possible to assign people to a Project even if they don’t show up as a Match.
- showing all potential Matches for a Quest, even if there are thousands of them, and the hiring manager only needs to review the top 10.
- not supporting common bias dimensions like race or gender in Profiles.
How do you calculate the matching score?
Match scores are calculated by combining Role, Band, Skill, Skill Competency, Location, Industry, Certifications, Availability, and Capacity against the Requirements. We use a weighted equation for this that has broad applicability, and has been developed in conjunction with existing clients. But if you are interested in a custom equation to meet your organisation’s requirements, we are happy to discuss. Additional commercial consideration may apply.
Can you change matching rules for external job seekers vs internal employees?
Not currently as that would introduce bias between the two groups. We would be interested to hear your use case for doing this to inform future product development.
Can we change the priority/weighting of a Skill for a job before matching?
You can specify whether a Skill is Required or Desired and what level of Competency is needed for each Skill. This will affect the priority and weight.
Matching is one thing; but does Kalido consider parameters like an individual’s probability of accepting an offer, their reliability or social status?
No. This introduces a level of bias that is difficult to control for and may not be legal in some jurisdictions.
Can Kalido highlight people who have blacklisted company experience?
No. Developing and maintaining blacklists is illegal in some jurisdictions, and may directly drive hiring bias over time. For an example, see UK "Employment Relations Act 1999 (Blacklists) Regulations 2010" and https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/employee-rights-book/chapter10-9.html
Can I integrate external recruiter network job seekers or any job portals we are members of?
Potentially, depending on the vendor and job portal, and their APIs or willingness to push data to Kalido APIs.
How can I make sure Job Seekers and employees keep updating Profiles?
Kalido’s Enhance My Visibility feature incentivises Job Seekers and employees to keep their Profiles fresh and up-to-date through emphasising the benefits of getting more relevant Opportunities. Enhance My Visibility guides the user through an easy 5-step process to ensure all the most recent and relevant details are included on their Profile. There is no need for HR teams or Recruiters to waste time chasing; Profile freshness is built into Kalido.
Can I segment within a Network? Can I exclude Networks internally?
Yes. Use Kalido Channels to do this.
What engagement strategies can we use?
Our Sales and Marketing teams can work with you to develop communication campaigns and strategies. For current clients we have created bespoke videos, email campaigns, feature guides, programmes of demos tailored for different audiences, bespoke decks and much more.
How can I connect with other Networks - Women in Tech, LGBTQIA+, Veterans, Universities, etc.?
If you have Admin permissions for your Network, you can connect with Admins of other Networks to engage and create Linked Networks to mutually share Quests and get more Matches.
