This article will show you what a Quest is and how to deploy them effectively.
What is a Quest?
Quests are AI-powered searches designed to find the right expertise for a Role, Project or team. If you’re creating a Quest, simply input your criteria and Kalido will find you great, stack-ranked Matches in just seconds. A Kalido Quest continues to search until you decide to close it. So you can be confident that you are always getting the freshest, most relevant Matches.
Kalido can also match you to other people’s Quests. You can view your Match results for these Quests in your Opportunities tab, and show interest in or dismiss the Projects and Roles you have matched with.
How do I start a Quest?
To start a Quest, visit your Quests tab and click ‘Create a Quest’. You will see Kalido’s current Quest option, ‘Find People for Projects’ which is designed to help you build teams and staff open Roles. Click ‘Create’. Follow the prompts to add as many details as you like to your Quest. Once you have finished, Kalido will instantly start finding Matches.
What requirements can I specify on a Quest?
Quests are designed to help you find exactly the right candidates for your open job, so you have the flexibility to add a range of requirements. They include: Role, job description, Role start and end dates, job Location, visibility, Industries, desired and required Skills, and desired and required Certifications.
Are there any mandatory requirements?
Yes, you must specify requirements for Role, job description and Role start date.
Are there any best practices for writing a job description?
Make sure that you add comprehensive details for the required Skills so that Kalido can analyse them and suggest required and desired Skills and Certifications for you during the next step. This saves time and helps to focus your Quest to get the most relevant candidates.
What is Quest visibility?
You can choose whether to make your Quest public or private. Candidates can see a Public Quest as an Opportunity and express interest or dismiss it. A Private Quest will not show up as an Opportunity and will be visible only to you and any Quest Co-Managers or Candidate Reviewers you have added. You can select your Quest’s visibility in the ‘Job Details’ section of the Quest Creation process by clicking the dropdown for ‘Select Co-Managers, Reviewers and Networks to search’ and making your choice in the Visibility section.
What happens after I publish my Quest?
Kalido will instantly search for candidates who match your Quest requirements. You can see your Matches by clicking ‘View Matches’ on your Quest.
Can I edit my requirements after posting my Quest?
Yes, click on View Quest and then the edit icon next to any section you want to update.
How can candidates view and interact with my Quest?
Candidates can see your Public Quest as an Opportunity in their Opportunities tab in Kalido. They can choose to show interest or dismiss it, or directly contact the Recruiter who is linked to the Quest.
What’s Matching and how does it help me?
Kalido uses sophisticated AI and machine learning models to match you with Opportunities. These Matches can be generated by a Quest started by you, or another Kalido user. Once you give us the details of the Skills you can provide, or that you want other people to provide, Kalido’s AI will quickly find you the Projects or people that are the best Matches.
Kalido will show you which Matches are exact, which are almost-perfect and which lack some criteria you’ve requested but are still worth investigating. And any Quests you start will continue to keep searching until you mark them complete, so you can be confident that Kalido is continuing to find the most relevant Matches for you.
You can help us improve the quality of Matching by letting us use your searches to train our Matching models. Find this option in Settings->Preferences->Help us improve matching.
What is a Great Match?
A Great Match is when a user’s Skills, previous experience and other data in their CV Record match the Quest’s requirements by more than 75%.
What is a Good Match?
A Good Match is when a user’s Skills, previous experience and other data in their CV Record match the Quest’s requirements up to 75%.
What is matching distance?
You can set how physically far away from your own Location Kalido should search for your Matches.
Where can I find my active Quests and their Matches?
Go to the top navigation bar and click on the Quests tab to see all your active Quests. To view or edit your Quest, click View Quest. To see your Matches, click View Matches.
Can I see the breakdown of each candidate’s score?
Yes, click on the candidate’s score and a popup will show you exactly how it has been calculated.
How is the match score calculated?
Match scores are calculated by combining a candidate’s Role, Band, Skill, Skill Competency, Location, Industry, Certifications, Availability, and Capacity against the Quest’s requirements. We use a weighted equation for this that has broad applicability, and has been developed in conjunction with existing clients.
How can I review individual candidate profiles?
On the Quest card you can see what criteria the candidate matches, partially matches or doesn’t match at all. To view a candidate’s full details, click View CV.
What are the different types of candidates?
CV candidates only have CVs on Kalido but they can still show up as Matches for your Quests. You can’t send them Chat messages, but you can invite them to join Kalido and create a Profile. Live Profile candidates have Kalido Profiles and you can Chat with them directly.
What actions can I take with my Quest Matches?
For candidates who match your Quest, you can take the following actions:
- Shortlist: this means you can come back to the candidate later to review.
- Put them On Hold for a set period: prevents them from showing up as a Match for any other Quest that you share.
- Dismiss: removes them from your Quest Matches.
- Chat: if the candidate has a Kalido Profile you can contact them directly and securely through Kalido Chat.
- View their Profile.
If the candidate only has a CV and not a Kalido Profile, you can’t chat with them but you can invite them to join Kalido and create a Profile.
How can I contact promising candidates?
You can start a secure Chat with them by clicking the Chat icon on the top right-hand side of their Kalido Profile.
How do you track which candidates you've reviewed?
You can keep track of which candidates you've reviewed by moving them to a different state e.g. To Review, Shortlisted, On Hold or Dismissed. If you have the right permissions, you can set custom Quest states for your Network. You can also use the Notes feature to record your latest thoughts and updates about each candidate.
Can I save a candidate to review later?
Yes, click Shortlist on the Match card and you can come back to them later.
How do I complete a Quest?
You can choose to complete a Quest by clicking on the tick mark on the right-hand side of the Quest page.
My industry has unique needs: can you build tailor-made Quests for my organisation?
Yes, we can tailor Quests to organisational needs and expand the number of Quests. Contact sales@kalido.me to discuss how we can help.
What is an Opportunity on Kalido?
Opportunities are things you can react to that either begin a meaningful conversation with other people or generate more Opportunities – for you or other Kalido users.
Kalido surfaces Opportunities for you in different ways. Your Quests, and other users’ Quests, result in Matches for Opportunities such as job vacancies, joining a Project team, or moving roles internally.
Your activities, and other users’ activities such as Profile edits, Network and Channel creation, and Chats prompt suggestions. And even your lack of activity – not updating your Availability or Skills for a while, for example – means Kalido will suggest making updates so that you can get more Matches, more Opportunities.
What is the Opportunity Map?
The Opportunity Map is a single, central place that is constantly updating and shows you a selection of the most relevant changes in your Networks. And the more regularly you update your Profile, the more relevant Opportunities we can keep surfacing to help you engage, enhance, and grow.
What happens if my Quest doesn’t immediately return any answers?
Unlike simple, one-time search functions, a Kalido Quest continues to search and Match you with the best Opportunities – until you choose to complete it. Our Matching functionality grows smarter as it learns more about you and what you’re looking for. So you can be confident that Kalido is always finding the most relevant, up-to-date Opportunities for you.
How can I be confident that my Matches are as qualified as they say?
Kalido’s philosophy is to present you with the data you need to make a quick decision about Competency.
There are three types of Competency on Kalido that can help you be confident in your Matches’ qualifications.
Self Rating
You can add your own Competency rating to your Skills.
Mobile & web: in the Skills tab, users can give themselves a Competency rating by clicking on each Skill, selecting, ‘Edit’ next to Skill Competency, and choosing a Skill level. These include ‘Basic understanding’, ‘Hands-on experience’, ‘Extensive experience’, Subject matter expert’, and ‘Master’.
Manager Rating
If your organisation has an internal skills profiling system, Kalido can pull manager ratings into employee Profiles.
Kalido Estimated Competency
Kalido produces a Competency rating based on information such as previous experience and any Certifications the user has linked to their Skills.
Kalido also scans people’s Profiles and feeds past Project descriptions and Certifications through our machine learning models to reveal levels of Competency for particular Skills. Kalido shares this with you as suggestions for pieces of evidence you could link to in order to verify your Competency in a particular Skill, giving credibility to your Profile and reassurance to people you Match with on Kalido.
You can also ask your common connections for Recommendations. Kalido shows you any connections you have in common when you’re looking at another user’s Profile – so you can get an idea of their personality, reputation, and credibility before making contact. You can also look for Recommendations on their Profile from people you know. And you can always arrange a meeting with them before deciding to work together.
How do I request a Manager Rating for my Skills?
- Go to your Profile and select the 'My Skills' option.
- Click the 'Request Manager Rating' button on the right-hand side.
- Select a Manager.
- Choose the Skills you'd like a Rating for and click Next.
- Enter your message and click the 'Ask for Rating' button. Your Manager will be notified that you have requested a Skills Rating.
Can I delete or complete a Quest?
Go to Quests and you’ll see a list of all your current Quests. You can update, delete, or complete them here. If you decide to complete a Quest, Kalido will stop searching for Matches and the Quest will be archived. You can view your archived Quests at any time.
What is a Quest Manager?
A Quest Manager has the overall responsibility for a Quest and the highest administration rights. A Quest Manager is able to transfer their status to another user if required to replace them as Quest Manager.
What is a Quest Co-Manager?
A Quest Manager can assign a Quest Co-Manager to help manage a Quest. They have the same administrative rights as the Quest Manager and can help to ensure the Network runs smoothly. This is particularly useful for managing large, complex Networks, and ensuring the smooth running of the Network in the Quest Manager’s absence.
What is a Quest Candidate Reviewer?
This is someone who is assigned as a Reviewer in a Find People for Projects Quest. Quest Reviewers can Shortlist, Dismiss, Assign, Put On Hold, or Return to Review match candidates. They can also add Notes to a candidate. Quest Reviewers can’t edit Quest details, as this requires being a Quest Co-owner.
